Intelligent "Scan-to-Print" Automation for Irregular Packaging Lines

In a recent collaboration with a high-volume logistics and garment distributor in Korea, SKYONE Tech tackled a common bottleneck: the labeling of products with unpredictable arrival sequences and varying heights. The client required a system that could intelligently identify mixed goods and apply custom-printed shipping or product data in real-time, a critical need for modern e-commerce and pharmaceutical logistics.

The foundation of our solution is the SKYONE Top Flat Surface Labeler, significantly enhanced with an "Equalizer device". This mechanism serves as the "organizer" for the line, automatically aligning irregularly delivered items into a consistent flow. To handle the challenge of varying product heights, our engineers implemented a flexible-stroke labeling head, ensuring that whether a package is thick or thin, the label is applied with uniform pressure and ±1mm accuracy.

The intelligence of the system lies in the seamless integration of a high-speed industrial scanner and a TSC thermal printer. As each product passes the scanning station, the system reads the existing master barcode to retrieve specific data from the client's database. Instantly, the TSC printer generates a corresponding label containing variable QR codes, expiration dates, or serialized text, which is then applied to the flat surface without stopping the conveyor.

By integrating the scanning and printing functions into a single automated station, we eliminated the human error associated with manual sorting and labeling. This real-time data synchronization allows the Korean facility to process a diverse mix of healthcare products, apparel, and food items on a single line, maximizing throughput while ensuring 100% data integrity for downstream tracking.

The entire workflow is managed through a customized SKYONE software interface, perfectly syncing the scanner's input with the TSC’s output. This "all-in-one" approach provides the client with a future-proof solution that can adapt to changing label formats or data requirements via simple software updates, embodying our commitment to providing smart, adaptable automation for global industrial leaders.
